It has a sort of GPS feature already, just not a turn by turn one.

I downloaded and installed 2.0 on my iphone (1st gen) and it rocks... hard.

:D

Even has Japanese character input now.

From what I hear, the iPhone 3G is only a little faster and has GPS. Besides that, the first gen is about $20/per month cheaper and the SAME! I am not upgrading to 3G. It will save me $540 or so.

^ditto! 8)

2g:
$20/month for unlimited data
200 text messages included

3g:
$30/month for unlimited data
$5/month for 200 text messages

I know other countries are crazy expensive.

Planning to uprade to 2.0 when I get home. Hope itunes is stable then.

with all the hype, i decided to pick up a iphone 3g on sunday. its a nice phone, everything is touch screen. i wonder what happens if the touch screen goes bad. no more answering or making calls. after 4 day of using it, i'm going back to my blackberry curve. i need that haptic qwerty keyboard and i need to be able to run apps in the background, example IM messenger to keep in touch with friends. one thing i thought that was pretty cool with the 3g is i was still able to get email when i was on the phone.
