Chinese family murdered along with their kids

A FAMILY of five beaten to death in the upstairs bedrooms of their Sydney home were victims of what police say was a "targeted" attack.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, Min Lin, 45; his wife, Lillie, 43; their two children, Terry, 9, and Henry, 12; and a 39-year-old woman thought to be the children's aunt were bashed to death with blunt weapons in separate bedrooms.

A surviving daughter, 15-year-old Brenda Lin, was confronted with the awful news when she flew in to Sydney yesterday afternoon from China.

Police yesterday searched the leafy neighbourhood in the north-western Sydney suburb of Epping where the family lived. Officers also searched the family newsagency.

At midday they had seized and towed away a red Toyota Corolla from a nearby street, just outside the house of relatives of the Lins.

"It's a horrific crime, absolutely horrific," Detective Superintendent Geoff Beresford said. "It is extraordinary, it's extremely violent and certainly unusual in my experience to have this many people murdered on one occasion."

The victims' bodies were found just after 9am on Saturday by a family member in three upstairs bedrooms of their Boundary Street home. They were lying where they were killed at some time between midnight and 9am.

"It certainly appears that all the injuries were blunt-force trauma to the upper bodies and to the heads of the victims," Mr Beresford said.

Police said the killings were unlikely to have been part of a robbery gone wrong, as nothing in the house appeared to have been stolen. Extortion was being examined as a possible motive, but police said last night that, as yet, there was "no suggestion" of it.

Mr Beresford said several family members had been interviewed, and had given police "enormous help".

He said no link had been established yesterday between the killings and the fact that Mr Lin had witnessed an armed robbery across the road from his newsagency in May.

Cards and flowers lay at the doorstep of the newsagency yesterday. One card read: "You did a good job delivering our newspapers rain and shine. Rest in peace."

Many residents went to the newsagency because their morning papers had not been delivered, only to discover news of the murders printed in the stacks of undistributed papers
I never read such horrific news as this one for long time, I can't imagine how someone can use a blunt weapon to kill two children 12 and 9 after killing their mum and dad and their aunty.
